Stranger

The places that I go to

Haven’t been any good for my health

I’ve been a stranger to myself

More than anyone else

Anything I put you through

You should know I put myself through it first

So of course I know it hurts

That’s what makes it worse

And still you treat me like a stranger

Keep on looking down at me as if you’re up on a shelf

You treat me like a stranger

But I guess that aint no different than I treat myself

With regard to moving on

We really shouldn’t take too long

If you feel the way I think you do

Just give me the sign babe and I’ll be gone

It aint worth all this pain

And all the shit we’re putting each other through

You and I have different points of view

And somewhere in between them both lies the truth

And still you treat me like a stranger

Keep on looking down at me as if you’re up on a shelf

You treat me like a stranger

But I guess that aint no different than I treat myself

And no matter what they say

No one knows you

No one knows me

No one knows us like they think they do

And there aint no way that anyone could

And there aint no reason anyone should

You know you really got to dig down deeper

Deeper than you’ve ever dug

Down before in your life

Sometimes the hardest thing to do’s what you don’t want to

But you do it anyway because you know it’s right

And still you treat me like a stranger

Keep on looking down at me as if you’re up on a shelf

You treat me like a stranger

But I guess that aint no different than I treat myself

You know you really got to dig down deeper

Deeper than you’ve ever dug

Down before in your life

Sometimes the hardest thing to do’s what you don’t want to

But you do it anyway because you know it’s right

…And still you treat me like a stranger
