When I saw you run to the water

I heard your laughter

I knew you were finally home

Back to the place where you came from

Battered and cold

You conquered the sea on your own

Yeah I watched you from light years away

I swore to myself

That I'd track you down some day

But I lost my way for an ancient love

I played the double hand

I slaughtered the dove

As I watched the great oceans rise

I shrank from the tempest

That boiled and burst in your eyes

Yeah your face was lit like a lantern

Your cries filled the air

Like a joyous bird in the sky

You were chanting a feverous prayer

Twisted and broken

I struggled to understand

Once the betrayer

I felt the power

In the words you whispered

I shrank in fear as you offered your hand

But you dragged me down to the water

Beneath the volcano

Across the soft black sand
