Just Kids

I was walking down main street to the corner stone

To get my cigarettes and to pick my poison of the day

I was walking down main street to the county fair

To see all the people that I never wanted to see but

The fireworks reminded me of when I was just a kid and

Now were doing all the things that we'll never say we did

And the fire in those brown eyes were telling me

"if you ever stop then I'll never finish"

And we were still just kids

We were taking long drags and breathing smoke

We were the young and the restless and invincible

Stayed up all night, we were the kings and the queens

Of the shorelines. Now we're getting older and doing all

The things that we said we'd never do but we did em and

We did them well

And the fireworks reminded me of

When I was just a kid and now were

Doing all the things that we'll never say

We did and the fire in those brown eyes

Were telling me "if you ever stop then I'll

Never finish" and we were still just kids

Basking in the sunlight

Staying out past midnight

We were the coolest kids

And we took it all in stride

We were taking long drags and breathing smoke

We were the young and the restless and invincible

Stayed up all night. We never wanted to fight when

We were just kids
