The Dragon And Saint George
Ironclad in the rolled
Cold steel of twilight
Saint George on his charger
Nears the fight
Each man stands alone
His time is finite
So brace for a leap
Of faith tonight
The city’s gripped, as a demon
Eats their children raw
A winged, plague-like behemoth
Tooth and claw
Then the dragon came down
To the deafening sound
Burning eyes like the winter sun
And such a terror unwound
To this hell-bound requiem
The Beast, a ravenous hound
On the hunting ground
Breathes fire to the funeral drums
Now there’s a dragon in town
And he won’t back down again
Enchained and proclaimed
His Bride of Midnight
Fear drenched by the Moon
Robe sheer to light
Insane, inhumane
Condemned to this plight
The Day came
She was named his sacrifice
Yeah
A faithless nation of heathens
“One true God” said George
“Be my strength in believing
Shield and sword”
Then the dragon came down
To the deafening sound
Burning eyes like the winter sun
And such a terror unwound
To this hell-bound requiem
The Beast, a ravenous hound
On the hunting ground
Breathes fire to the funeral drums
Now there’s a dragon in town
And he won’t back down again
“There’s a dragon in town
And he won’t back down” I said
No he will never back down
‘Till the whole damned town is dead
“You become true believers
And I will slay this scourge
You can trust the redeemer
And my word”
Then the dragon came down
To the deafening sound
Burning eyes like the winter sun
And such a terror unwound
To this hell-bound requiem
The Beast, a ravenous hound
On the hunting ground
Falls hard on the funeral drums
There was a dragon in town
But he won’t come down again
Then the dragon came down
To the deafening sound
Burning eyes like the winter sun
And such a terror unwound
To this hell-bound requiem
The Beast, a ravenous hound
On the hunting ground
Falls hard on the funeral drums
There was a dragon in town
But he won’t come down again
“There was a dragon in town
But he won’t come down” I said
No he will never come down
For the dragon in town is dead
