A Ballad for Our Time
This is a ballad of our time
Every bird has its right of way
As it flies through the freeway of the sky
Every flower sees the light of the day
Or it's going to crumble up and die
And dreams need a place in the sun
So by chance maybe one comes true
One comes true
Every tree has a piece of land
Where its roots have the liberty to grow
Every sea has a beach of sand
Where its water have room to overflow
And pride needs somewhere to live
So it just doesn't give in quick, give in quick
Every rain has its day to fall
And its day of returning to the skies
Every wind has the protocol
To be kicking up dust into our eyes
And strength needs a chance to be shown
Even just to be known to fail, known to fail
Every bird has its right of way
As it flies through the freeway of the sky
Every flower sees the light of the day
Or it's going to crumble up and die
And who has the right to say no?
But at times it's as no one does, no one does
